Today is February 14 Sundarbans Day.
Sundarbans Day has been celebrated since 2001 with the aim of creating public awareness on the conservation of biodiversity in the Sundarbans. This year, the National Sundarbans Conference was held for the first time under the Bangladesh Environmental Movement with the participation of Khulna University, Mechchasebi Sangathan Rupantar and Parsh and the participation of 60 more environmental organizations of the country. At that conference, 'Sundarbans Day' was celebrated on 14 February. The main event of Sundarbans Day will be held in Khulna again. Various organizations have organized rallies and discussion meetings on the occasion of the day. An online discussion meeting will be held on the occasion of the day at the initiative of Rupantar. It is known that there are 5,000 species of plants, 196 species of amphibians, 124 species of reptiles, 569 species of birds, 125 species of mammals and various species in the Sundarbans
